Dogs & Little Boys

Mom was in town for a math conference so we had the Bakers over for dinner last evening. The x-factor in this event was the fact that Mom brought her Portuguese Water Dog with her, Madison.

The fact is, Wyatt isn't all that pumped about dogs. Technically, he loves the large black lab at his sitter's, Sammy. Any canine other than Sammy though, Wyatt finds for the most part terrifying.

Cue Madison.

Wilson started off playing with Madison…

Wyatt didn't know quite what to make of the situation…

So he played with my grilling gloves to pass the time.

But then he decided that ol' Madison wasn't nearly as ferocious as he thought she was, so he spent some time throwing the ball with her. It got a bit touch and go when she would drop the ball after retrieving it but wouldn't give Wyatt enough clearance to grab the ball#8230;

But Wyatt even went so far as calling for Madison and patting his hands against his thighs.

By the end of the evening, Madison found herself a rawhide and gave that some attention.

Wyatt however decided to revert back to being terrified. He wouldn't even chance getting down on the floor, instead he wanted someone to pick him up off the couch.

The full pictures from the evening are on this webalbum.

I'd like to point out that the reason Wyatt is afraid of dogs is because Aunt Nan's rat-dog "Lady" Cordelia tried to bite off his face at Christmas last year. Just witnessing the whole event was enough to convince me to swear off dogs for the rest of my life.

I think Wyatt and Tessie would get along great! They could both be nervous together in the corner.

The problem is, I don't think Wyatt has nearly as much desire to be in an empty bathtub as Tessie does.

We could give Wyatt some of Tessie's tranquilizers....that'd calm him down.
